Reconciliation Mission's Advent Letter Calls Disciples To Help Fulfill The Church's Mission

February 3, 2006 - Disciples News Service

The work and initiatives of Reconciliation Mission (RM) will be reviewed by the church's Executive Committee between now and March 31 to help determine Reconciliation's future. RM gives leadership to our church's anti-racism/pro-reconciling efforts and seeks to enable our church's commitment to become a transformed community. Reconciliation Mission ended 2005 with a balanced budget. However, the 2005 Special Offering, which supports this year's work, fell 25 percent below the 2004 offering.

That drop has required RM to undertake serious discussions about future directions. RM was challenged by the church's Administrative Committee, which met in Indianapolis earlier this week, to live within its existing funding for 2006, a process that the Executive Committee will now review. Becoming an anti-racist/pro-reconciling church is one of the tenants of the 2020 Vision.
